PPASS BC President Joan Toone Receives the Prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary International District 5020.
Our president, Joan Toone, together with fellow polio survivor and Rotary member, Denny Wilford, from Port Orchard WA, were each presented with a Paul Harris Fellow award by Rotary District 5020 Governor Norm Watts at the 2008 District Conference, held in Parksville BC on May 31st.
The Paul Harris Fellow award, which is a much sought after and revered award in the world of Rotary International, was awarded to the two recipients in recognition of the respective work each has done in connection with Rotary’s PolioPlus. For Joan, this has been promoting vaccination against Polio and information about Post-Polio Syndrome; and for Denny, he has founded the Denny Wilford Foundation (“Just 2 Drops”) that both promote Polio vaccinations and water therapy pools for rehabilitation for polio survivors in Ethiopia.
Our heartfelt congratulations and thanks to you both!
